Why Junky Jan

Why Hollywood homeowners call us for construction debris removal

Construction debris is the one kind of junk Hollywood's city pickup will not touch. Drywall, tile, concrete, roofing and wooden fencing are all refused from the bulk pile, so a finished bathroom or a torn-out kitchen leaves a heap with no free way to move it. We carry it out, load it and take it away in one visit.

  • We load from inside the house, the garage, the driveway or the job site
  • Mixed loads are fine: drywall, wood, tile and bags together
  • Priced by truck space and weight, quoted before we start

What we take

What construction debris do you take in Hollywood?

We take what a remodel, a repair or a clean-up leaves behind. Branches from the same property can ride in the same truck (see yard waste removal). We do not take asbestos, wet paint, solvents or other chemicals; popcorn ceilings and old floor tile in pre-1980s homes need testing before anyone hauls them.

  • Drywall, plaster and ceiling board
  • Floor and wall tile, and cement backer board
  • Lumber, plywood, trim, doors and old wooden fencing
  • Kitchen and bathroom cabinets, vanities and countertops
  • Toilets, sinks and bathtubs
  • Carpet, carpet pad, and vinyl or laminate flooring
  • Windows, screens and old hurricane shutters
  • Bagged debris, buckets and packaging from a finished job
Heavy material

Concrete, dirt and roofing: do you take them?

These three differ from the rest of a debris load because they are heavy for their size. A truck carrying broken concrete or wet dirt reaches its weight limit long before it looks full, so they are priced by weight as well as space.

We take broken concrete, pavers, dirt and roofing shingles in part loads. Send a photo and a rough size, such as a 10 by 10 foot patio or two pallets of old roof tile, and we tell you whether it fits in one trip.

Remodels

Demolition debris after a remodel in Hollywood

A kitchen or bathroom remodel produces more debris than most people expect: the cabinets, the countertop, the old tile, the drywall behind it and the boxes the new materials came in. If your contractor's price did not include haul-away, or the crew left the old material behind, we clear it from wherever it sits and sweep up after.

We remove the debris, not the walls. If the tear-out is still ahead, book the pickup for the day after it.

City rules

Will Hollywood's bulk pickup take construction debris?

No. Hollywood's monthly bulk pickup is for household items, and the city's sanitation page lists the construction materials it refuses: drywall, cinder block, brick, floor or bathroom tile, roofing tile or shingles, concrete, wooden fencing, glass, rocks, plumbing materials, wiring and dirt.

For debris, the choice is between a hauler, a rented dumpster and your own trips to the landfill.

Your options

Do I need a dumpster instead of a junk removal crew?

A roll-off dumpster suits a long project that produces debris every day for weeks, like a gut renovation. For most home jobs a truck is simpler: nothing sits on the driveway, you do no loading, and the debris leaves the day it is ready. Hauling debris away does not change whether the work needed a building permit; that is a question for your contractor and the city's building division.

How pricing works

How much truck space construction debris takes

Debris is priced by the space it fills in the truck, and tile or concrete by weight as well. A photo of the pile gives the exact figure.

A small repair

A few sheets of drywall, a door and some bags.

One bathroom

The old vanity, toilet, tile and drywall from a bathroom tear-out.

A kitchen or a floor

Cabinets and countertops, or the flooring from several rooms.

A whole remodel

Debris from a gut renovation, or several rooms done at once.

Send a photo to (305) 764-2597 and you get the exact price before we lift anything.

Contractors

Do you haul debris for contractors on a schedule?

Yes. Contractors, landlords and property managers can book a pickup at each stage of a job. A remodel produces debris in waves: the tear-out, the rough-in offcuts, then the packaging from finish work. Clearing it at each stage keeps the site safe between trades.

For a job site, tell us the address, where the debris is staged and when the site is open. For a unit in a tower, see condo junk removal; for offices and stores being refitted, commercial junk removal.

FAQ

Construction debris removal questions from Hollywood customers

How much does construction debris removal cost in Hollywood, FL?
Construction debris is priced by the space it fills in the truck, and heavy material such as tile, concrete or dirt is priced by weight as well. Send a photo and a rough size, and you get the price before anything is loaded, with no hidden fees. The junk removal cost page explains how loads are priced.
Will Hollywood's bulk pickup take drywall, tile or old fencing?
No. Hollywood's sanitation rules refuse construction materials in the bulk pile, including drywall, tile, brick, concrete, roofing, glass, plumbing materials, dirt and wooden fencing. A pile that breaks the rules gets 24 hours to be fixed before the city removes it and bills the owner for disposal plus a $200 administration fee.
Do you take concrete and dirt from Hollywood jobs?
Yes, in part loads. Concrete, pavers, dirt and roof tile are heavy for their size, so a truck reaches its weight limit before it looks full. Send a photo and a rough measurement, such as the size of the patio, and we tell you how many trips it takes and the price before we start.
Can you haul renovation debris out of a Hollywood Beach condo?
Yes. Many beach towers require contractors to remove their own debris, bar them from the building's dumpsters and chutes, and allow work only on weekdays with the service elevator booked ahead. Many also want a certificate of insurance first. Tell us the building and we plan around its rules.
Where can I take construction debris myself in Broward County?
Hollywood's disposal directory sends rocks, dirt and construction debris to the Broward County Landfill at 7101 SW 205th Ave, open Monday to Saturday. It charges by the ton and only takes debris from inside Broward. Lumber and woody material can go to the county's South drop-off center at 5601 W Hallandale Beach Blvd on Saturdays, with proof of Hollywood residency.
