Yard Waste Removal in Hollywood, FL
Junky Jan hauls branches, palm fronds, hedge clippings, leaves and storm debris from yards across Hollywood. Why Hollywood homeowners call us for yard waste removal
Hollywood's weekly yard waste pickup handles an ordinary week of clippings. It is not built for the weekend you cut back an overgrown hedge, the palm that dropped a season of fronds, or the pile a storm leaves across the lawn. When the pile is over the city's limit, too long to set out, or sitting where nobody can drag it to the curb, we load it from where it is.
- Branches and fronds loaded from the backyard, side yard or pool deck
- No cutting every limb to four feet first
- Yard waste and yard junk in the same trip, such as old fence boards or patio furniture

Branches, palm fronds, clippings and soil: what we take
We take green waste and the yard junk that sits next to it. We do not take pool chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides or fuel; Hollywood sends residents with those to the county's South drop-off center at 5601 W Hallandale Beach Blvd, with proof of residency.
- Tree limbs and branches, cut or uncut
- Palm fronds, coconuts and seed pods
- Hedge and shrub clippings
- Leaves, grass clippings and bagged yard waste
- Logs and trunk sections from a tree already cut down
- Soil, sod and rock, in part loads because of the weight
- Old fence boards and lattice (see construction debris removal)
- Broken patio furniture and planters (see furniture removal)
What Hollywood's yard waste pickup covers
Hollywood collects yard waste every week, on a separate truck from bulk trash. The two have been collected separately since October 1, 2020, and the city says no yard waste may be mixed into a bulk pile. The weekly limit is 4 cubic yards, limbs must be cut to 4 feet or shorter, and the pile can go out no earlier than noon the day before collection (the city's yard waste page).
One rule catches people out: the city expects landscapers to haul away the yard waste they create. If a lawn service or tree trimmer cut it, the weekly pickup is not meant for it. The city pickup also stops short when you have:
- A pile bigger than 4 cubic yards, about 6 by 6 by 3 feet
- Limbs or trunk sections longer than 4 feet that you cannot cut
- Branches mixed with bulk items or old fence boards
- A backyard pile nobody can carry to the swale
Tree debris removal after trimming
Trimming a big tree produces more than the weekly pickup takes, and cutting every limb to 4 feet is most of a day's work. Leave the branches where they fell, whole or partly cut, and we load them as they are. Logs are heavy, so give us their rough size with the photo.
If you hired a tree service, ask whether haul-away is in their price. If it is not, or the crew left the brush by the fence, we take it. We haul the cut material; felling trees and grinding stumps are jobs for a tree service.
Storm debris cleanup in Hollywood
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. Before a storm, Hollywood asks residents not to trim trees or put extra piles out once their collection day has passed, and it stops collection when winds over 35 mph are forecast. Trimming should be finished before a watch is issued, so if branches are already down, call early and have them gone first.
After a storm, the city collects in separate piles: vegetation with limbs cut to 4 feet and leaves in clear bags, construction debris and household items, damaged appliances, and normal trash. Piles go at the curb, 3 feet from mailboxes, fences, poles, trees and cars; debris between the sidewalk and the house is not picked up, and alley collection is suspended (the city's storm debris flyer).
The city runs its own timetable after a storm, and we cannot say when its trucks will reach your street. We can take debris from the backyard or the pool deck, where the city will not go, once the roads are open.
