Miami-Dade's bulky waste rules for Miami Gardens homes
Miami Gardens does not collect bulk trash itself. The city's bulk waste page sends residents straight to Miami-Dade County. A home on county service gets two bulky waste pickups a calendar year, each up to 25 cubic yards, and the two can be combined into one. That is a large allowance, but it comes twice a year, by appointment, with a long list of refused items. Here is what the county publishes.

When Miami Gardens homeowners call a hauler instead of the county
Two pickups a year suit a planned clear-out. They do not cover these:
- Both pickups already used this calendar year, with more still to go
- Any single item over 150 lb, which the county will not collect
- Electronics and TVs, microwaves, tires, central AC units and auto parts, all refused at the curb
- More than 3 cubic yards of renovation debris, about six green 96-gallon carts' worth
- Rock, dirt and sand left from a yard project (see yard waste removal)
- Anything that still has to be carried out, since the county only collects piles set within 10 feet of the street
Garage, yard and house cleanouts in Miami Gardens
Miami Gardens is mostly single-family houses, where junk collects for years in the garage, the carport, a shed or the side yard. A cleanout here usually mixes boxes and old furniture with a broken washer, fence boards and yard debris.
That mix is where the county rules pinch. A curb pile can hold furniture and bagged mattresses, but not the TV or the microwave, and nothing over 150 lb. Setting it out more than 3 days early can bring a warning or a civil citation, a rule enforced since April 1, 2023. Miami-Dade trash centers in and around Miami Gardens
Three of the county's Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers are in or next to Miami Gardens: Norwood at 19901 NW 7th Avenue, North Dade at 21500 NW 47th Avenue and Golden Glades at 140 NW 160th Street. They open daily, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with no gate fee, and take household junk, yard cuttings, up to 3 cubic yards of construction debris a day and, at most centers, up to 4 tires. North Dade and Golden Glades also take electronics and motor oil; Norwood takes no white goods.
You need a Florida license or ID matching a Miami Gardens address on county service, and trailers with a bed over 10 by 6 by 6 feet are turned away. Details are on the county's trash center page. If it would take several car trips, that is when to call us.
Getting to you in Miami Gardens
Miami Gardens lies directly south of Miramar, across the county line, about 18 minutes and 10 road miles from our Hollywood base with no traffic. The west end of the city, out by NW 47th Avenue, is closer to 21 minutes. From Hollywood we take I-95 or the Turnpike south, or come down University Drive, which becomes NW 27th Avenue in Miami-Dade.
