Bulk trash pickup in Pembroke Pines: what the city takes

Pembroke Pines gives bulk and yard waste to Eastern Waste Systems, and the allowance is large: 10 cubic yards per home at each pickup, with yard waste allowed in the same pile. The city's pages say bulk is collected twice a month, while Eastern Waste's own schedule and the city's 2025-26 notice say monthly, so confirm your date with Eastern Waste before you build the pile. The city's rules are below.

When you need a hauler

When Pembroke Pines homeowners hire a junk hauler

The city pickup handles ordinary furniture well. It turns away the items below, and it only comes on a fixed date, so these are the jobs we get called for:

  • Glass of any kind, including glass tabletops, mirrors, aquariums and glass shelves
  • Hot tubs, which the bulk crew will not collect at any size (see hot tub removal)
  • Refrigerators and freezers that still have their compressor, and Freon appliances with no technician's sticker
  • A third over-limit pile in the same year, after the two free ones are used
  • Anything that has to be gone before your next collection date, such as a closing or a move-out
  • Heavy pieces that nobody at home can drag out to the curb

Over the limit

How far does free bulk pickup in Pembroke Pines go?

Further than Hollywood's, but it has an end. Each home can put out 10 cubic yards per pickup. When a pile runs over, the first two over-limit pickups in a year are free, and after that the city bills $15 for every cubic yard over the limit.

The pile also has to be out before 7 a.m. on collection day and kept 3 feet from mailboxes, trees, cars and overhead wires. Yard waste can share the pile, which Hollywood does not allow, but debris from a contractor's tree removal cannot.

With a hauler there is no curb pile to measure. We load from the garage, the back bedroom or the patio, and the price is set by the truck space before we start. See garage cleanout for a full garage, or yard waste removal for a big trim.

Drop-off and appliances

Where can Pembroke Pines residents take junk themselves?

Not to a site inside the city. The city's bulk waste page lists no drop-off for residents, and Pembroke Pines was not on either list Broward County published in 2025 for its three drop-off centers. The Broward County Landfill, at 7101 SW 205th Avenue, takes bulk waste from the public Monday to Saturday for a fee by weight.

Refrigerators are the other sticking point. The city takes a Freon appliance only with a technician's sticker, and a refrigerator only with its doors and compressor removed. Few people can pull a compressor at home. We carry the refrigerator out as it stands. See appliance removal.

How long it takes us to reach Pembroke Pines

Pembroke Pines is two different drives from our base in Hollywood. The east side, around University Drive, is about 20 minutes with no traffic. The west end of Pines Boulevard, past I-75, is closer to 32. Hollywood Boulevard runs west and becomes Pines Boulevard, the road that crosses the city, so most of our trips there are a straight run west.

We give a pickup window and text when the truck leaves. We also work next door, with pages for junk removal in Miramar and junk removal in Davie.

FAQ

Pembroke Pines junk removal questions

How much does junk removal cost in Pembroke Pines?
It depends on how much of the truck your load fills, and on anything heavy such as a hot tub. Send (305) 764-2597 a photo of the load and we reply with a price before a single piece leaves the house. Our junk removal cost page explains what moves the number.
Is bulk trash pickup free in Pembroke Pines?
Up to a point. Eastern Waste Systems collects up to 10 cubic yards per home at each pickup, and two over-limit piles a year are free. After those two, the city charges $15 for each cubic yard over the limit. Glass, hot tubs, tires, boats and contractor debris are not collected at any size.
Why won't Pembroke Pines pick up my old refrigerator?
The city collects Freon appliances only with a technician's sticker, and refrigerators only with the doors and compressor taken off. A refrigerator that is still intact can be passed by. We carry refrigerators and freezers out as they are, from the kitchen or the garage. See appliance removal.
Is there a dump in Pembroke Pines I can use?
Pembroke Pines lists no drop-off site for residents, and it was not on Broward County's 2025 lists for its three drop-off centers. The Broward County Landfill at 7101 SW 205th Avenue takes bulk waste from the public for a fee by weight, Monday to Saturday. Or we take the load, carried from wherever it sits.
Can I put yard waste in my Pembroke Pines bulk pile?
Yes. Pembroke Pines lets yard waste go out in the same pile as bulk items, which Hollywood does not. Debris from a contractor's tree removal is excluded, though. For a large trim or a storm cleanup, see yard waste removal.
How long does it take you to get to Pembroke Pines?
About 20 minutes to the east side from our Hollywood base with no traffic, and about 32 to the west end of Pines Boulevard past I-75. We give a time window rather than a set minute, and we text when we leave.
