Broward County Dump and Junk Drop-Off Guide

Broward County residents can take junk to three county drop-off centers on Saturdays, if their city takes part, or pay by the ton at the Broward County Landfill, open Monday to Saturday. This guide lists each site, who can use it and what it turns away. Junky Jan hauls the load when a dump run is not practical.

Where is the dump in Broward County?

There are four places a resident can take a load. Three are free residential drop-off centers that open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fourth is the Broward County Landfill on the county's western edge, which charges by weight and opens six days a week. Junky Jan works out of Hollywood, where the South center in West Park is the closest of the four.

Broward rebuilt its website in 2026, and its drop-off page has been blank since. The addresses below are from the county's own flyer and the City of Hollywood's disposal directory. Call the county on 954-765-4999 before you load up, because hours and participating cities change.

Who can use them

Which Broward cities can use the drop-off centers?

Only residents of cities that pay into the county program. The centers take bulk and yard waste, household hazardous waste and electronics "only from participating municipalities", and the two lists are not the same.

On the county's 2025 list, bulk and yard waste were accepted from unincorporated Broward, Dania Beach, Davie, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Lazy Lake, Oakland Park, Pembroke Park, Weston and West Park. The household hazardous waste and electronics list was longer, and it included Hollywood, Davie and Dania Beach. Pembroke Pines, Miramar and Fort Lauderdale were on neither list, so residents there rely on their own city's pickup. Hallandale Beach runs its own quarterly hazardous waste drop-off at 630 NW 2nd Street.

Bring a photo ID and a document that shows your address: a tax bill, a utility bill or a voter registration card. The county allowed up to four visits a month.

At the gate

What gets turned away at a Broward drop-off center?

Big vehicles, business loads and a short list of materials. The centers are for a household load in a household vehicle.

  • Anything larger than a full-size, one-ton pickup
  • Truck beds longer than 8 feet or wider than 6 feet, and modified beds
  • Trailers over 8 feet
  • Commercial vehicles, and waste from any business, including one run from home
  • Household garbage, propane tanks and explosives in the bulk area
  • Tires beyond a few per load: they are handled as hazardous waste, with a limit
The landfill

Broward County Landfill: hours, rates and rules

The landfill at 7101 SW 205th Avenue takes what the drop-off centers will not: large loads, trailers, and construction debris such as rocks, dirt and concrete. It opens Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and charges by weight.

The county's rate sheet, in force from January 1, 2026, lists bulk waste and construction debris at $100 a ton and yard trash at $75 a ton, each with a $10 minimum. Tires on rims under 25 inches are $130 a ton. The landfill accepts only bulk waste, yard trash and construction debris that comes from inside Broward County. It does not take household garbage, hazardous or biomedical waste, lead-acid batteries or used oil.

It sits at the far western edge of the county, off US-27. From Hollywood that is a long drive each way, so most people who use it are making one planned trip with a full trailer.

What your own Broward city picks up for free

Before a dump run, check your city's bulk pickup. Every city nearby collects large items from houses at no extra charge, and the limits differ a lot. Condos and apartment buildings are usually left out.

Dump run or junk removal in Broward?

A dump run suits you if you have a pickup, a free Saturday, a city on the county's list and a load you can lift. It costs nothing at a drop-off center, and the landfill's by-the-ton rate is fair for a trailer of clean debris.

It stops making sense when the load will not fit a pickup bed, when it has to come down stairs or out of a condo, when your city is not on the list, or when you need it gone before Saturday. That is the work a crew does. We carry it out from wherever it sits, load it and sweep up, and the price is set by the space the load takes in the truck, quoted before anything is lifted. What we take lists the few things we cannot haul either.

FAQ

Questions about dumping junk in Broward County

Is there a free dump in Broward County?
Yes, for residents of participating cities. Broward runs three residential drop-off centers, in Pompano Beach, Davie and West Park, that take bulk items, yard waste, hazardous waste and electronics on Saturdays at no charge. You need a photo ID and proof of your address. The county landfill is open to everyone in Broward but charges by the ton.
Where do Hollywood residents take junk in Broward County?
To the South drop-off center at 5601 W. Hallandale Beach Boulevard in West Park, on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with proof of Hollywood residency. The City of Hollywood sends residents there for paint, chemicals, electronics and lumber. Rocks, dirt and other construction debris go to the Broward County Landfill instead, for a fee.
Can I take a mattress to the dump in Broward County?
Yes, if your city takes part in the drop-off program. Mattresses count as bulk waste at the three county drop-off centers, and the Broward County Landfill takes them by weight. Most Broward cities also collect mattresses at the curb on bulk pickup day, which is the easier route if you can wait for your date.
Can a business use the Broward County drop-off centers?
No. The centers are for households only. The county says small businesses, including home-based ones, should not bring waste to them, and commercial vehicles are turned away at the gate. A contractor or landlord with a load from a job needs the landfill, a roll-off container or a hauler.
How much does the Broward County Landfill charge?
From January 1, 2026 the county's rate sheet lists bulk waste and construction debris at $100 a ton and yard trash at $75 a ton, with a $10 minimum on each. The load must come from inside Broward County. The landfill is at 7101 SW 205th Avenue and opens Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where can I dump old paint and chemicals in Broward County?
At one of the three county drop-off centers on a Saturday, if your city is on the household hazardous waste list. Paint goes in containers of 5 gallons or less, up to 25 gallons a visit. Hallandale Beach residents use the city's own quarterly drop-off. Junk removal crews, ours included, cannot take liquid paint or chemicals.
